Carolyn Klimas

Carolyn Klimas opened her studio in Charlotte in October 2004.  She earned her 200-hour yoga teaching certification with Alan Finger and Beverly Murphy from Be Yoga studio in New York City.  Her first training was ISHTA yoga, a style of Hatha yoga with emphasis on tantra and ayurveda.

Carolyn obtained her next four-hundred and eighty hours studying under Barbara Benagh at the Yoga Studio, in Boston, Massachusetts.   Benagh is nationally renown for developing her "slow flow" style of teaching and for her writings as asana columnist for Yoga Journal.  Carolyn grew quite fond of her T pass, which carried her all over the Boston area, teaching hundreds of students and classes.  To add to her practice, Carolyn also became certified with Mamaste Yoga to teach prenatal yoga and now also offers a children's yoga class (also known as Pint-sized Posers.)

Her latest yoga journey drew her west.  She recently completed Level 1 teacher training with Tias Little in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and will be heading out again in July for her next chunk of training.  She is very inspired by Tias's anatomical studies in yoga, especially the feet!

Certified with the Yoga Alliance, she enjoys teaching both gentle and active classes.  She has a lighthearted and playful approach to yoga.  She has been practicing yoga for eight years.

She received her B.A. from Stanford University and her M.A. from Boston University.  She is a Libra.  not the flaky kind.

Email Carolyn!

Elizabeth Regan

Elizabeth earned her 200-hour teacher training at The Bodhi Tree Yoga Studio in March of 2003. Her training incorporated many approaches of hatha yoga, philosophy, chanting and meditation.  She is currently a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance

In December of 2005, Elizabeth completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy!  She joined Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates in February.  Her studies in physical therapy enrich her teaching, as her classes focus on alignment and therapeutics.

Strongly influenced by anusara, Elizabeth teaches a mixed level class which includes slow flow, and regular use of props to allow safe expression of yoga postures for each individual.   Her class is most appropriate for someone who has been practicing yoga regularly as an advanced beginner or intermediate practitioner.

Elizabeth enjoys teaching a fun, interactive class; students are delighted to be continuously challenged and broaden their yoga experience.

Elizabeth's husband, John, is currently sailing the high seas as a Gunner's Mate in the U.S. Navy.  This is Sadie on the left.  Sadie's guru is the Cesar, the Dog Whisperer.

Cathy Kauder

Cathy Kauder began practicing yoga in 1998 when working as a financial news reporter left her shoulders semi-permanently attached to her ears.  After taking yoga at various New York City studios, Cathy went to Om Yoga center on the recommendation of a friend.  She immediately connected with Om founder Cyndi Lee's flowing vinyasa-style classes that emphasized alignment and mindfulness.  In the fall of 2002, Cathy enrolled in Om's first Warrior Weekend teacher training program and earned her 200-hour yoga teaching certification in the spring of 2003.

Cathy's fun and vigorous classes focus on flowing from one posture to the next while paying attention to alignment and the breath.

A graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Cathy recently moved to Charlotte from the New York City area with her husband and two-year-old daughter.  She continues to practice and teach yoga and is influenced by various styles including Vinyasa, Anusara and Iyengar.  She is a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance.

Lynne Gugliotta

Lynne Gugliotta RYT, began practicing yoga in 1995 while studying Modern Dance in college.  Lynne was drawn to the non-competitive nature of yoga, and in 2002 received her 500 hour yoga certification from Be Yoga/Yoga Works in Manhattan and Prenatal yoga from Stephanie Keach at Asheville Yoga. Lynne is registered with the Yoga Alliance.

Following the ISHTA yoga tradition developed by Yogiraj Alan Finger (ISHTA = Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda), Lynne encourages her students to make their practice their own by challenging themselves while knowing their limits and letting go of judgment. With a focus on vinyasa flow (movement linked to the breath), Lynne’s classes combine challenging asana with relaxing and cleansing twists, forward bends, and pranyama, or breathing exercises.

Lynne has been teaching vinyasa flow yoga since November 2002, beginning at Be Yoga, then at Yogatopia and the YMCA after moving to Charlotte.

Here she is with her dreamy husband, Al.  Al is a big fan of the Ultimate Fighting Championship; for the record, Lynne holds steadfast to her belief in ahimsa, or non-violence.  In case you were wondering.

Cynthia Thomas

Cynthia was first drawn to yoga in a quest to relieve hip pain which resulted from many miles of running.  She was delighted with the results, and has not required a cortisone injection since!

Serious practice began in 2003, initially as a mother/daughter activity.    Cynthia then studied with Pat Joslyn to receive her certification at the 200 hour level.  Her style is  influenced by Integral Yoga, and is a classical and traditional blend of mindful movement and peaceful stillness.  Classes generally end with a guided relaxation which promotes a calm mind as well as physical renewal.  Cynthia's classes are most appropriate for those seeking a gentle pace of practice.

Cynthia earned a B.S from UNC-Chapel Hill, and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington.  Though she has held several exciting jobs, she considers teaching yoga to be the most rewarding by far.  She is a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance.

Cynthia is the proud mama of a teenage son and daughter; when not yoguing; she may be spotted at swimming meets or equestrian events.  Her husband Tom is also a Peaceful Poser and a crucial member of the PP marketing team.

Allison Modafferi

Allison is so pleased to be part of the peaceful posse! She started practicing yoga at Jaya Yoga Center while living in New York City in 2001. She left her very first class breathing deeper, feeling inches taller, and knowing already that she wanted to teach someday!

In 2003, Allison received her 200-hour training and certification at The Bodhi Tree Yoga Studio, and she is currently a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. She continues her studies of yoga, and is predominantly influenced by Anusara and Vinyasa styles. Allison's classes are a combination of the playfulness and heart that are at the core of Anusara, and the meditative flow that first attracted her to Vinyasa. Best suited for students who want a challenge but happily realize that our bigger challenges lie off the mat, her classes reinforce working towards each individual's optimal alignment and building core strength. (A side note: Allison strongly dislikes situps, so don't worry... that's not what she means by core strength!)

Off the mat, Allison practices yoga through music, performing with her band Volatile Baby. She also works for the Children's Theatre of Charlotte, teaching Musical Theatre at ImaginOn and taking the Neighborhood Bridges program into CMS elementary schools. She believes strongly in living truthfully, practicing living with intention, and celebrating the life we create. Namaste!
